The Jim Dandy fonts are my interpretation of a 19th-century font called "Jim Crow." Suggests a broadside, a circus poster, or Western sign. Jeff Levine jogged my memory with a scan of this gem from a "Formatt matte acetate adhesive type sheet catalog." It appears not to have been digitized yet. Thanks, Jeff, for the tip and the encouragement.
My version is completely redrawn, not autotraced, for nice clean letters at the larger sizes where the great detail shows. The Regular font is based on the original; I've also created companion fonts that can be used alone, or layered and colored to give even more variety.
